Getting fit for a new Cobra ZL driver
Adjusting the Cobra ZL DriverI went to Greg Cooper at The Golf Exchange in Florence Kentucky to get fitted for the Cobra ZL Driver. I have a pretty good swing but knew very little about club fitting. I hadn't purchased a new driver in years and had heard good things about the Cobra. Well, the fitting was an eye opener. Although I hit a lot of fairways with my current driver and was relatively long, it turns out that my driver was far from the proper club for me.

We started with the stock Cobra to establish a base line and then went on to different shafts. It was remarkably easy to change shafts and The Golf Exchange had a good selection from Cobra. After hitting 20-25 balls, Greg determined that I need to switch to a stiff flex shaft and with a 9 degree loft. My pattern was tighter and I was 20 yards longer. A quick change in the adjustable face angle feature of the Cobra ZL driver gave me the flight path I was looking for.

I was very impressed with the knowledge that Greg has about fitting a club and learned a tremendous amount regarding the type of shaft that I need to be playing and the effects of my swing speed and swing path (I'm a little steep resulting in more ball spin). There are many other factors to consider such as flight pattern, ball spin and other ratios that help understand your swing during the fitting. Greg even recommended the best ball for my swing using the ZL driver.

If you ever want to improve your game, take 60 minutes out of your day and go get fit for your golf clubs. I'm going back for new irons next...
