Getting to the green, in regulation... |

Well, not only do most manufactures ask us to get our clubs fitted but now they suggest we get our ball fitted too. For instance, those of us that play to a handicap of 20 or more should use a two piece ball. They sell for 10 to 15 dollars per dozen and since they have a low spin rate they should get those of us who have a slower swing speed a little more distance. Right now both USGA and the PGA are recommending that the courses around the country set up tees in such a way that players can reach the par 5's in 3, the par 4's in 2 and the par 3's in one based on their capabilities. Now, there is a novel idea. Making the game somewhat easier might attract more players. At the same time allow the players who think they are capable play from 7,000 or more yards to play from the tips. So take that new ball, hit from the new tee locations and make some pars and birdies. Charlie Mandel, founder of MyDivots and Florida Sun Coast Golfer |
