Still playing after all these years |

I've now have been playing and loving this game of ours for 50 years. Playing to anywhere from a 10 to a 20 handicap. Played in club tournaments, winning my flight more often then I care to re-count and now, even though my drives have lost the better part of 100 yards and my irons travel just short of 100 yards, I am enjoying golf as much and perhaps more then ever. I am taking lesson and practicing again and enjoying every little sign of success. Still, I have to remind myself to hit down on the ball and not up. Me, who has won 30 some odd tournaments ... me, who has 5 holes in one, is back to fundamentals once more! I am sorry to say that many of my friends who have enjoyed playing golf for about 50 years, have either given it up or are about to. When all they have to do in order to reignite the fire is : 1. play the forward tee 2. don't try to compete with those much younger 3. remember, that's why they created a handicap system Charlie Mandel, founder of MyDivots and Florida Sun Coast Golfer |
