When buying new clubs... |

1- Make sure you understand your goal and how the new clubs will help you get there. 2- Don't use generic reasons like: I'll get better, be specific. 3- See a trusted professional to get fitted, in fact it might be more advantageous to see more than one. 4- However, if you think new clubs will improve your game, let me tell you, they will. Call it a placebo effect if you must, I don't care, but if your iron shots start landing closer and closer to the pins, isn't that the result you are looking for? Friends of mine, who happen to be in the golf club manufacturing business, send me the latest "Hi Tech" drivers for me to try and comment on and guess what? Whether I am playing a 2 Dollar Nassau or a Club Championship, I reach in the basket in my garage and take out my Cleveland 3 year old Driver (XLS) which brings a smile to my face. You know why? It's simple, I hit it more often, farther, straighter because I am very comfortable with the club. And playing the other old men in my foursome and at 77 years of age, that's the simple goal I reach for every time I get to the tee box.
